FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Do I have to be from the United States to volunteer with ECN?
No.  Envision Change Network welcomes volunteers from all around the world to volunteer with our partner organizations.

Why pay to volunteer?
Program fees cover volunteer housing accommodations, two meals each day, transport to and from the airport and a portion also funds programs offered by the organization you volunteer with.  Application fees are used to recruit new volunteers and new programs and for administrative costs such as answering phones, email, and developing the website.

Are my volunteer fees refundable?
Volunteer fees paid to partner programs are non-refundable.

Are program fees subject to change?
Program fees are evaluated by our partners’ once a year.  Changes in fees will only apply to volunteers that have not yet paid their application fee.  Fee changes are announced via the web, and are posted seven (7) days prior to the change becoming effective.

Who arranges my flight and visas?
Your flight and visas are arranged by you.

Do I need travel insurance?
ECN neither provides nor requires participants to have insurance for their trip, such as medical or trip insurance.  Some countries require visitors have travel insurance; program pages have specific information about insurance requirements.  ECN strongly urge participants to purchase an insurance policy for their trip.

Who pays for my ground transportation?
Ground transportation to and from the airport to the program site is included in the program fee.  Travel is normally on public transport (buses, minivans, Tro-Tro).  However, if volunteers want to use private transport, such as a taxi, volunteers are responsible for those costs.  Volunteers are also responsible for costs of transport for sightseeing and for city-to-city travel.

Does ECN provide any financial support?
Envision Change Network is unable to provide financial support.

Am I expected to bring money or gifts for the organization?
You are not expected, nor will you be asked, to make any donations of any kind for any purpose (like money, medical supplies, clothes, books, etc.)  All of our partners are informed of this policy.  Such giving, although well-intentioned, can foster a dependency on international volunteers, which is not the best approach in finding solutions to local issues.  Also, giving money or gifts can create an expectation in locals that future volunteers will also do the same.

Still have questions that were not answered here or on the program page you are wishing to volunteer with? Please send us a message and we will get back to you within 2 business days.
